Dell Strengthens Multicloud Strategy as APEX Portfolio Advances (2023)

Dell Technologies unveiled new Dell APEX offerings across cloud platforms, public cloud storage software, client devices and compute to create a multi-cloud design experience. Dell has extended the capabilities of APEX spanning datacenters to the public cloud and client devices. The new offerings improve business and innovation through better application and data management and mobility.

Dell has categorized this as an earth-to-cloud and cloud-to-earth strategy. Dell has also expanded the APEX portfolio as a service and subscription, bringing it across the sales portfolio.

From an earth-to-cloud perspective, Dell has taken Project Alpine and created an entirely new product catalog called APEX Storage for Public Cloud. Dell is taking its Storage-as-a-Service and moving it to the public cloud.

Dell APEX Storage for Public Cloud enriches the public cloud experience

Delivering on the promise of Project Alpine, Dell brings the performance and advanced software features of its flagship enterprise data warehouse to public clouds, while delivering operational simplicity with a unified approach to Dell cloud storage and Kubernetes management.

Dell APEX Block Storage for Amazon Web Services (AWS), Dell APEX Block Storage for Microsoft Azure and Dell APEX File Storage for AWS combine the performance, scalability and cyber resiliency of Dell enterprise-class storage with the public cloud
economics and services such as analytics and artificial intelligence (AI).

Organizations can adjust their cloud strategies based on business needs and maximize existing skill sets through advanced data mobility and management consistency across on-premises Dell storage and public clouds. This approach avoids the need to refactor applications and retrain staff.

Dell APEX Block Storage can quickly scale performance and capacity for mission-critical workloads through a scale-out architecture. Increased resiliency is achieved by effectively distributing data across multiple Availability Zones. Dell APEX File Storage delivers enterprise-class file performance and features in the public cloud. Users can support a variety of high-performance workloads, including AI, machine learning, media and entertainment, and life sciences.

Dell APEX Protection Storage for Public Cloud

These offerings join Dell APEX Protection Storage for Public Cloud as part of Dell's software-defined storage portfolio for public clouds. Dell APEX Protection Storage provides industry-leading data storage for AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and Alibaba Cloud, with over 17 exabytes of data protected by Dell software in public clouds to date.

Enhancements to the Dell APEX console include new software-as-a-service (SaaS) management, deployment, data mobility and discovery offerings that make it easier for operations teams to maintain multicloud storage and Kubernetes clusters.

Dell APEX Navigator for Multicloud Storage is a SaaS that centralizes, simplifies and secures the management of Dell APEX Block and File Storage with simple configuration, automated deployment, storage monitoring and data mobility
between on-premises and public cloud environments. This allows organizations to consistently and securely manage their multicloud estate at scale, while optimizing workload scheduling to meet their business needs.
Dell APEX Navigator for Kubernetes is a SaaS that simplifies Kubernetes storage management by bringing advanced data services such as data replication, application mobility and observability to containers with Dell Container Storage Modules that are easy to deploy and manage.

Computers and Servers Get a Cloud Experience

Dell is expanding the Dell APEX portfolio to help customers easily manage day-to-day IT operations, accelerate infrastructure deployment, control costs and manage device returns in a secure and sustainable manner through a service-as-a-service experience.

Dell APEX Compute provides scalable and secure core computing resources in a data center, edge environment or colocation facility. Users can support virtualized or container-based environments by installing a hypervisor
or operating system of your choice. Organizations will be able to meet their IT operations and workload needs with scalable and secure computing resources available through a predictable monthly subscription.
Dell APEX PC-as-a-Service (PCaaS) helps companies simplify IT and deploy the latest client technology at predictable costs4 while freeing up capital to invest in modern employee experiences. five-year terms and increase or decrease as necessary. Access to the Databricks Lakehouse platform made easy

To give customers greater freedom to gain insights from data wherever they are, Dell and Databricks announced a new multifaceted relationship to connect on-premises data across Dell's enterprise data storage platforms and the Databricks Lakehouse platform.

Dell customers can connect Databricks in the public cloud to Dell Object Storage, either on-premises or in a co-location facility, to analyze data on-premises, store the results and securely share them with third parties using Dell's Delta sharing capabilities. Databricks. Dell and Databricks are collaborating to design multiple integrations together to provide a seamless experience for Dell object storage on the Databricks Lakehouse platform.

Availability

Dell APEX Cloud Platforms will be available globally starting in the second half of 2023.
Dell APEX Block and File Storage for AWS is now available globally.
Dell APEX Block Storage for Microsoft Azure will be available globally in the second half of 2023.
